DETAIL SPECIFICATION
TURBINE FUEL, AVIATION,
GRADES JP-4 AND JP-5
This specification is approved for use by all Departments and
Agencies of the Department of Defense.
1. SCOPE
1.1 Scope. This specification covers two grades of aviation turbine fuel NATO F-40 (JP-4)
and NATO F-44 (JP-5) (see 6.1). Synthesized hydrocarbons from new sources require specific
guidance that is outside the scope of MIL-DTL-5624. This guidance is found in ASTM D7566.
1.2 Classification. Aviation turbine fuel will be of the following grades, as specified (see
6.2).

2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS
2.1 General. The documents listed in this section are specified in sections 3 and 4 of this
